I have a blog! Despite the title, this blog is not simply about astronomy. Think more along the lines of
Maholo.ne.Trash by John Johnson, with it many varied topics. While reviews of papers, my research, and various astronomy topics will the majority of the posts; it is my intention to take side-roads to discuss issues that I find important such as mentoring, history, science & religion, communication, the "cult of smart",
et cetera. The importance of communicating science effectively cannot be underestimated. This blog is also a sort of
practice pad for my scientific writing (at least for now). Among the writings, there will be interesting astrophysics problems that I work out for fun. These problems will range from simple ones for non-scientists, to problems you would expect on a graduate school exam, with most being at the level of undergraduate astronomy concentrators.
Posts will be, shall we say, spread out. I tend to take a long time to write. For example, I have written four separate and unique versions of this post, all of which approached the idea of a "first post" differently. If you want to read an established astronomy blog, consider
Maholo.ne.Trash, especially since I looked to its format for guidance (that might be rather
lightly worded) on how to structure the first post.
